Monday’s rain has wiped out what would have been a busy varsity baseball and softball schedule in central and southern Aroostook County.
Three matchups have been moved to Tuesday at 4 p.m. Central Aroostook will host Katahdin, Hodgdon will host Southern Aroostook and Caribou will host Fort Kent.
Mattanawcook Academy games at Houlton also wer postponed and will now be played as part of a doubleheader Tuesday starting at 2 p.m.
Fort Fairfield’s home games against Wisdom also were scratched and a makeup date has not yet been established.
The following is a recap of games played Friday and Saturday.
Baseball
Katahdin 11, Hodgdon 6 — At Hodgdon Friday, Brody Guiggey led the Katahdin Cougars with two singles, three walks, and three runs scored. Cooper Drew helped his own cause by reaching base safely three times and scoring twice for the Cougars (2-0).
Drew tossed 3-2/3 innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on three hits and one walk, with five strikeouts. Bradley Hotham pitched 3-1/3 relief innings, scattering three runs (one earned) on two hits and one walk, with six strikeouts.
For Hodgdon, Josh Foster singled twice, doubled, and was hit by a pitch he scored four runs for the Hawks (1-1)
Greater Houlton Christian Academy 8, Southern Aroostook 1 — At Hodgdon Friday, Will Austin had two doubles and a single and drove in three runs to lead Greater Houlton Christian Academy past Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook.

Trevor Schools and Cole Winslow each had a double and a single and an RBI and Austin Winslow went 5 2/3 innings to pick up the win.
Chris Caswell, Jacob Brooks and Nicholas Anderson singled for Southern Aroostook and Caswell drove in the run.
Fort Fairfield 18, Southern Aroostook 1 — Jared Harvey, Isaac Cyr and Colby Langner combined on a two-hitter as the Tigers topped Southern Aroostook in Lee Saturday afternoon. Harvey started and earned the win, striking out six Warrior batters. Langner had three hits and three RBIs to lead Fort’s offense, while Malcolm Langner, Harvey and Cyr added two hits apiece.
Caribou 5, Mount Desert Island 2 — The Vikings scored four runs in the top of the seventh to notch the come-from-behind win over the Trojans Saturday at MDI. Noah Frost had a two-run single and Hayden Hunter an RBI single as part of the rally.
Hunter finished with three hits and two RBIs for the winners and Frost pitched two scoreless innings of relief to gain the win. Camden Huck started for the Vikes.
Mount Desert Island 5, Caribou 4 — The Trojans scored all their runs in the first four innings and held off another comeback attempt by the Vikings.
Frost knocked in two runs for the Vikes on a fielder’s choice grounder in the fifth and an RBI single in the seventh. Huck collected an RBI single and Noah Hixon a sacrifice fly during Caribou’s two-run first inning.
Carter Moir and Alex Ezzy both doubled and singled twice to lead Caribou’s offense. Hunter added two hits. Brennan Poitras started and Mason Patten pitched two innings of scoreless relief for the Vikes, who are now 1-4.

The Vikings committed only one error in each game.
Woodland 7, Central Aroostook 5 — The Panthers led their season-opener by a run heading into the sixth inning, but the Dragons came from behind to post the win in the first of two played at Narraguagus High School Saturday.
Ben Thomas and Lane Grass had two hits each for CA. Thomas pitched well through five innings before tiring in the sixth as Colby Kingsbury came on in relief. The Panthers committed five errors in the game.
Woodland 10, Central Aroostook 0 — The Panthers managed only four hits and did not score a run while losing game two.
Josh Thomas, Ben Thomas, Brayden Bradbury and Cody McCrum each hit safely for the Panthers. Caleb Harris started on the mound, with Kingsbury and McCrum pitching in relief.
Softball
Katahdin 27, Hodgdon 7 — At Hodgdon Friday, Katahdin’s Lily Cullen struck out eight as the Cougars dominated Hodgdon. For Katahdin (1-1), Cullen and Dee Libby doubled and singled and Hannah Drew hit two doubles.

Jordyn McKissick, Sidney Crane and Kora Lambert each singled and doubled for Hodgdon (0-1).
Southern Aroostook 4, Fort Fairfield 2 — The Warriors’ Kylie Vining struck out 18 batters and allowed just two hits in their win over Fort Fairfield Saturday in a game played at Lee Academy.
Sara Edgecomb suffered the hard-luck loss on the mound. She surrendered only one hit and one earned run and collected six strikeouts. The Tiger defense committed four errors in the contest.
Kacy Daggett hit a three-run double in the fifth inning for SA’s only hit. Cassidy Coiley had a run-scoring single in the sixth inning for the Tigers.
Mount Desert Island 8, Caribou 1 and Mount Desert Island 17, Caribou 4 — The Vikings were swept on the road Saturday afternoon and fell to 1-4. Heather DeMerchant started both games on the mound for the Vikings, with Brooke Moir coming on in relief in each. Hollie McDougal and Kaytlin Waldemarson each had two hits in the twinbill for the 1-4 Vikings.
Woodland 6, Central Aroostook 1 and Woodland 10, Central Aroostook 3 — The Panthers debuted Saturday and lost both ends of the doubleheader against the Dragons. Central Aroostook pitcher Caitlyn Harris struck out 19 batters in the two games. Mersaydez Johnson and Maci Beals had CA’s lone hits in the opener, while Beals had two singles and Breanne Bradbury, Annika Nicholas, Macey Coffin and Johnson had one each in the second game.
Tennis
Houlton boys 4, Schenck 1 — At Millinocket Friday, the individual results with Houlton players listed first, were: in singles, Nolan Porter lost to Nick Powers, 1-4; Tim Youngfellow beat Dylan Danforth, 8-2; and Devin Ivey bested Hunter McLaughlin 8-0. In doubles, Jaron Gentle and Isaac Vega beat Tyrone Davis and Colby Hannan, 8-2; and Ben Grant and Nate DeLucca defeated Nathan McNally and Ethan Sennett, 8-0.

Houlton girls 3, Schenck 2 — At Millinocket, the individual results, with Houlton players listed first, were: in singles, Rebecca Mooers beat Hannah Johnston, 8-5; Sydney Lorom beat Nicole Lamson, 8-0; and Maddie Grant bested Abi McNally, 8-1. In doubles, Grace Johnson and Morgan Graham lost to Emily Gagnon and Hailey Johnston, 7-9; and Houlton forfeited to Baileigh Osborne and Madison McDunnah.
Caribou boys 5, John Bapst 0 — The Vikings won Friday’s home match and improved to 3-0 as Alec Cyr won 8-2 and Parker Deprey prevailed 8-0 in contested singles matches. Bailey Griffeth and Sawyer Deprey won their first doubles match 8-0, while Seth Beidelman and Emerson Duplissie-Cyr also shut out their Crusader opponents.
Caribou girls 5, John Bapst 0 — The Caribou girls also stand at 3-0 with the victory over the Crusaders Friday. Gabrielle Marquis picked up an 8-1 triumph over Crystal Bell of John Bapst in first singles. Ashley Matlock earned an 8-2 win in No. 2 singles and Hailey Holmquist won 9-8 in a tie-breaker in third singles.
The doubles teams of Ciara Richards-Danielle Hanson and Maddie Stratton-Kyra Thibeault also came out on top for the Vikings.
Presque Isle boys 3, Hermon 2 — The Wildcat boys moved to 2-0 with a close win over the Hawks Saturday in Hermon. Andre Daigle (by a score of 8-3), Mason Young (8-2) and Jordan Bonville (8-4) claimed PI’s wins in singles. The doubles teams of Isaac Madore-Gage Young and Austin Moreau-Elijah Russell were defeated by their Hermon opponents.
Hermon girls 4, Presque Isle 1 — The Wildcats (0-2) were beaten at Hermon Saturday as Miranda Bragan claimed PI’s lone win. She beat Maddie Willis in a tie-breaker in the No. 2 singles match, 9-8 (9-7). Hana Boucher and Anna Robinson fell in singles and Gaby Haley and Jenna Ouellette were stopped in doubles. Presque Isle had to forfeit its No. 2 doubles match.
