Local track and field teams ventured downstate Saturday, with Presque Isle participating in a meet held at Mount Desert Island Regional High School and Caribou, Washburn and Fort Fairfield, all in Dover-Foxcroft.
At MDI, Presque Isle girls’ first-place finishers were the 4×800 relay team of Madison Jandreau, Jenna Sargent, Amanda Winslow and Isabelle Jackson with a time of 11 minutes and 57.69 seconds; Kamryn Gilmour in the 1,600-meter race walk in 9:36.38; Libby Moreau in the 300 hurdles in 54.21 seconds; Jandreau in the 3,200 in 13:04.35; and Madelyn Wing in the javelin with a mark of 95 feet, 2 inches.
Also placing were the following Wildcat athletes: 100 hurdles, fourth, Kylie Scott; fifth, Janelle Doak; 100-meter dash, third, Moreau; 1,600-meter run, second, Jandreau; fourth, Jackson; 400-meter dash, fourth, Kate Goulet; 300 hurdles, third, Maggie Castonguay; 800-meter run, fourth, Jackson; 200-meter dash, sixth, Clara Kohlbacher; 3,200-meter run, third, Amanda Winslow; high jump, third, Wing; long jump, third, Moreau; fourth, Castonguay; triple jump, sixth, Allison Himes; discus, second, Alexandra Walsh; fourth, Grace Bemis; and shot put, third, Wing; fourth, Bemis; and fifth, Elise Nelson.
The 4×400 relay team of Castonguay, Doak, Himes and Moreau placed second.
The Wildcat girls scored 145 points to finish second to MDI, which posted 187. Fort Kent, Washington Academy, Narraguagus, Penquis, Mattanawcook Academy and PVHS were the other schools competing.
For the PI boys, claiming a victory was Trace Cyr in the 100-meter dash in 11.92 seconds.

The 4×800 relay team of LeTourneau, Bridges, Jonah Clark and Bartley placed second. The 4×100 relay team of Cameron Lahey, Cameron, Carlisle and Ryan took third and the 4×400 relay team of Cameron, Caron, Bridges and Cyr was third.
Presque Isle was the meet runner-up with 123 points, second only to the host Trojans (216). Washington Academy, Mattanawcook Academy, Fort Kent, Narraguagus, PVHS and Madawaska were other schools represented.
At Foxcroft Academy, placing first from girls’ teams in the region were Emily Austin of Caribou in the 1,600-meter racewalk in 9 minutes and 33 seconds; Alexis Rodriguez of Caribou in the 800-meter run in 2:39.37; the Vikings’ 4×400-meter relay team of Meagan Dube, Monica McLaughlin, Rodriguez and Willow Whitten in 4:28.29; Paige Espling of Caribou in the high jump with a mark of 5 feet; and McLaughlin in the javelin with a mark of 113 feet, 10 inches.

Caribou’s 4×800 team of Moir, Emma Stewart, Edie Shea and Rylee Saucier was second and Washburn’s team of Kyla Cunningham, Bobbie Campbell, Kassandra Farley and Alexis Carney took third.
Caribou placed third in the meet, behind Brewer and Old Town, with 136 points. Fort Fairfield was sixth with 14 and Washburn seventh with seven.
Boys’ first-place winners were the Caribou 4×800 relay team of Caleb Robbins, Tom Pinette, Malachai Willey and Dylan Marrero in 9:10.19; Jonah Daigle of Fort Fairfield in the 110 hurdles in 15.89 seconds, the 100-meter dash in 11.64 seconds and the long jump with a mark of 20 feet, 7 inches; Evan Desmond of Caribou in the 1,600-meter racewalk in 9:22.14 and the 800-meter run in 2:08.98, Marrero in the 1,600-meter run in 4:57.28, the Caribou 4×400-meter relay team of Desmond, Trevor Hale, Cory Jandreau and Calvin Mokler in 3:49.03; and Jandreau in the pole vault with a mark of 12 feet, 2 inches.

In the boys’ relays, Washburn (Gavin Dunagan, Jacob Maynard, Aidan Churchill and Devon Maynard) placed fifth in the 4×800; Caribou (Bell, Liam McMillon, Mokler and Grondin) finished third and Washburn (Steven Nader, Jordan, Patrick Saucier and Maynard) came in fifth in the 4×100; and Washburn (Damien Douglass, Churchill, Jordan and Maynard) ended fourth in the 4×400.
Caribou scored 165 points to place second behind Brewer, which had 172. Fort Fairfield came in fifth with 38 and Washburn was eighth with 14.
