JOYCE (WHITE) RUSSELL HAYES, SMYRNA MILLS AND OAKFIELD – Joyce (White) Russell Hayes, 88, went home to be with her Savior on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Madigan Estates. She was born on April 19, 1930, in Merrill, the daughter of Joseph and Estella (Hardy) White.
Joyce was a member of the Oakfield Bethel Pentecotal Church, where she was honored for teaching Sunday School for fifty years. She also taught Vacation Bible School. Joyce was very compassionate and always took the time to visit someone or lend a helping hand whenever she could. Joyce was a very proud and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Herbert R. Russell, second husband, Earnest Hayes, two brothers, Ernest and Donald, four sisters, Olive, Rita, Mary, and Nadine, a daughter, Gloria Caron and her husband, Gerald, and a grandson, Steven Caron. Joyce is survived by a brother, Vinal White, two daughters, Pat White and her husband, Bryant, and Bev Dickinson and her husband, Peter, two sons, Bruce Russell and his wife, Judy, and Chris Russell. She also leaves behind step-children, Yvonne Gould and her husband, Danny, Brad Emery and his wife, Sherry, Joe Emery and his wife, Linda, Mike Emery and his wife, Cindy, and Randy Emery and his wife, Stacy. Joyce was blessed to be survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Abouleish and the staff of Madigan Estates for her care. Appreciation also goes out to Pastor Sterling Lawrence and friends for their faithfulness of prayers, cards, and visits.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 28, 2018, at Upper Smyrna Cemetery with the Pastor Sterling Lawrence officiating.
