Owl players honored for work in classroom

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — University of Maine at Presque Isle seniors Nicole Marucci and Sara Packard have made the Academic All-American Collegiate Athletic Association Softball Team. 

Marcucci, an infielder/outfielder from Naples, carries a 3.80 grade point average in athletic training, while Packard, a pitcher from St. Albans, owns a 3.99 GPA, also in athletic training. Packard has the highest GPA of all the honorees.

The league’s sports information directors voted to select the team.

UMPI player Alissa Edwards, a junior from Nebraska City, Nebraska, made honorable mention.
