MARS HILL, Maine — A Blaine man who was drinking alcohol with a juvenile in Mars Hill Monday night was arrested for allegedly violating conditions of probation after an altercation with police.
Late Monday night, Maine State Police trooper Patrick Pescitelli received a complaint about “an intoxicated runaway juvenile” in the Fort Street area of Mars Hill, according to a state police press release.
When Pescitelli arrived, he encountered three individuals, including the juvenile as well as 33-year-old Mark Mullen of Blaine.
Mullen was on probation for a 2010 armed robbery at Subway in Presque Isle and part of his probation conditions included refraining from use of alcohol and drugs, according to the press release.
Pescitelli believed that “Mullen had been consuming alcohol” and sought to perform a preliminary breath test.
After Mullen refused the breath test, Pescitelli attempted to arrest Mullen, who started to resit the arrest, according to the press release.
That led to a three minute altercation that ended in the middle of the street with the help of Maine State Police trooper Adam Stoutamyer, according to the press release.
Mullen was arrested and is being charged with violating probation and refusing to submit to detention or arrest. He was taken to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton where he awaits a court hearing and determination of bail.
It was not immediately clear what happened to the juvenile and other individual.
