LITTLETON, Maine and DAUPHIN COUNTY, Penn. — Donald R. Helm, 78, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018, at a Houlton hospital. He was born July 13, 1939, in Harrisburg, PA, the son of the late Paul H. and Mae (Holtzman) Helm.
Donald grew up in Dauphin County, PA, and attended local schools. He then joined the U.S. Army in 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1963. In 1968 he married Anna Mary Stayrook and they would have six children together. Donald drove truck for a time but eventually owned and operated a chicken and dairy farm. He was a hard worker who in his spare time enjoyed reading and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Mary Helm of Perry County, PA; six children, Bradley Helm of Pennsylvania, Mark Helm of Bridgewater, Rona Sue Helm and Rebecca Helm, both of Littleton, Rachel Koppenhaver and her husband, Ed, and Nathan Helm and his wife, Jenna, all of Pennsylvania; a grandson, Nakoda Helm of Pennsylvania; as well as a sister, Susan Helm of Harrisburg, PA.
