PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Marilynn Parkhurst Bonenfant died on May 1st, 2018, at the age of 96. She was born in Presque Isle, Maine, on November 30, 1921. She was the daughter of Edwin and Muriel Parkhurst of Presque Isle, Maine, and the wife of the late Kenneth H. Bonenfant, D.M.D.
She was educated in the Presque Isle School System, Bates College, and Chamberlain School of Fashion & Retailing. She married Kenneth H. Bonenfant, D.M.D., on September 5, 1943.
She was a member of the Congregational Church (U.C.C.) and served on the Board of Deacons and other committees. She was very fond of golf and served as President of the Ladies’ Division of the Presque Isle Country Club. She was also a member of the Upper St. John Valley Lady Seniors Golf Association. She was active in the Pierian Club and enjoyed taking part in several plays and dramas. Bridge and reading were favorite activities. She and her husband, Kenneth, enjoyed snow shoeing, cross country skiing, and especially golf. After Ken’s retirement they spent two months in Florida each winter.
Marilynn was predeceased by her mother and father, her sister, Carolynn Cameron, and her husband, Kenneth H. Bonenfant, D.M.D. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Raymond and her husband, Wayne, of Largo, Florida; and by her son, Edwin Bonenfant and his wife, Jane, of Presque Isle, Maine. She was blessed with four granddaughters, Rachel Zehner of Australia; Rebecca Duprey of Presque Isle, Maine; Rochelle Raymond of St. Petersburg, Florida; and Nicole Janicki of Norfolk, Virginia. She was also the proud great-grandmother of Benjamin and Alexander Duprey; Annabelle and Zachary Zehner; Cecelia and Beatrice Tomas; Lilly and London Jewett, and Cole and Clay Jordon.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Presque Isle Congregational Church Memorial Fund. A memorial service was held at Presque Isle Congregational Church on Monday, May 7, 2018, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Timothy Stohlberg officiating.
