The Easton Kiwanis Club recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with its sponsoring club from Presque Isle and several charter members.
The evening started with the traditional singing and a buffet prepared by current members. Guest speakers included Mike Corey from the town selectmen, who presented a plaque in recognition of the club’s service to the community; AJ Cloukey from the Presque Isle club; and Mike Allen, the first president of the Easton club.
Chapter President Barb Blackstone spoke about the power of influence and the importance of relationship with the community. Vaughn Martin, Jean Kneeland and Cindy Flanagan decorated for the event.

The evening ended with a fun rendition of “Take me out to Kiwanis.”
Frank earns doctorate
Congratulations to Dr. Meghan Frank, who earned her doctorate of pharmacy from Husson University in Bangor. She also received the 2018 Husson School of Pharmacy Professionalism Award, as well as the Bruce Jarvi Founders Award from Phi Delta Chi for service excellence in her fraternity, school of pharmacy, and the community.
Frank has accepted a position at Eastern Maine Medical Center where she will complete a pharmacy residency program. She is the daughter of Rick and Pam Frank and currently resides in Bangor.
Open house
On Saturday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Francis Malcolm Science Center will hold an open house, featuring ongoing digital planetarium programs in the Star Theater, bee brain anatomy and behavior display by UMPI Professor Scott Dobrin, high-altitude model rocket launches (weather permitting) at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., interactive lobby displays and seed planting for family fun, and Shrine clowns. The Central Aroostook Humane Society will have a display.

Happy Days Club
The next meeting of the Happy Days Club will be Thursday, May 24 at 11:30AM in the Recreation Room at the Manor.
Sea Dogs trip
The Easton Recreation Department will host a bus trip to see the Portland Sea Dogs on Saturday, May 26. Tickets are $15 and include transportation to Portland. For more information call 488-6601 or email recreation@eastonme.com.
After-school program
The Francis Malcolm Science Center hosts Club Invention for fourth- and fifth-graders every Tuesday in May from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Students will model and test new structures to restore the town of Unlucky, and will also explore the engineering of bridges.
