Fowler earns Lion of the Year Award

At the April 16 meeting of the Mapleton Lions Club, Lion Rick Fowler received the Mapleton Lions Club Lion of the Year Award for 2017.

While making the presentation, Terry Sandusky, club secretary, recalled Fowler’s work on all of the club’s major projects and the repair and upgrade of the Mapleton Lions Hall, as well as having high attendance for club meetings and events.

Fowler is one of the club’s accomplished grill masters, having worked the grill at the Lions’ chicken barbecue and the Maple Meadow Farm Fest.

Auction a success

The Mapleton Lions Club wishes to thank all who helped support the club’s very successful auction.

The auction’s fundraising consisted of two parts.  First, there were direct financial donations, and secondly, area businesses and friends of the club donated over 300 items, services and gift certificates.

The club extends a special thanks to all of these donors who made the auction a success.

Lions Matt Gregg and Ron Leonard, auctioneers, explained the auction’s success was also due to the responsive bidding by the large crowd who attended.

Finally, the club appreciates the many financial donors who provided a substantial portion of the funds raised through the auction.  Their donations, along with the auction funds, will be used by the club for scholarships, Boy Scout troop sponsorship, purchase of eyeglasses, Little League and recreation department support, the Camp Adventure diabetes camp and many other Mapleton Lions Club charities.
