Easton High School presents athletic and academic awards

Academic awards

Cameron Adams, Easton Junior-Senior High School principal, and Lynda Foren-Turner, guidance director, presented awards for academic excellence and perfect attendance during the Academic Awards Banquet on May 8.

The following students earned awards.

Certificates: freshmen Camden Michaud, Owen Nicholson, Nathan Quint, Austin Carver and Matigan Dow; sophomores Lila McCrum and Cecilia Morin; juniors Alexander Harvath, Isaac Wipperman and Isaac Currier; and seniors Kaitlyn Faloon and Keagan Kinney.

Easton’s annual Athletic Awards Night was Thursday, April 26. Varsity Club adviser Leslie Carlow, Athletic Director Steve Shaw and Principal Cameron Adams emceed.

Coach Bryan Shaw presented certificates to junior high girls soccer players: Maggee Currie, Jenna Cochran, Grace Flewelling, Kenzie Legassie, Cheyanne Day, Austyn Cowley, Amelia Bate, Grace Ellis, Maggie McQuade, Makenzie Kinney, Madison Seeley, Olivia Keep and Rylee Leavitt.

Coach Derek Carlow presented certificates to the junior high girls basketball team: Amelia Bate, Grace Ellis, Olivia Keep, Makenzie Kinney, Rylee Leavitt, Maggie McQuade, Jenna Cochran, Kenzie Legassie, Cheyanne Day, Grace Flewelling, Karla Chege, Eva Callioras, Maggee Currie and Emma Lamoreau.

Paige Flewelling received a pin for managing the team.

Manager Shelliese Mullen received her Bar.

Coach Cody Closson presented boys varsity basketball awards: a bar to Collin Sotomayor, letter and pin to Keagan Kinney; pin to Noah Hanscomb, letters to Isaac Currier, Kyle Flewelling, Camden Michaud and Matthew Pangburn and certificates to Kooper Kinney, Alexander Harvath, Carson Flewelling, Austin Carver, Ryan West, Kody Carter and Owen Nicholson. Managers Kaitlyn Faloon and Cecelia Ferris received a letter and pin.

Coach Danny Warren presented certificates to junior varsity boys basketball players: Austin Carver, Owen Nicholson, Paul Bonner, Mitchell Flewelling, Nathan Quint, Kody Carter, Holden Stoutamyer, Kooper Kinney, Alexander Harvath and Madison Bubar.

Steve Shaw recognized the following All-Aroostook athletes: Class D girls soccer, Delia Bonner and Isabelle Morin. Class D boys soccer, Isaac Currier, Gavin Pangburn and Collin Sotomayor. Class D girls basketball: Isabelle Morin. Class D boys basketball: Collin Sotomayor.

Others honored were Paige Flewelling and Collin Sotomayor, Aroostook League Division II volleyball tournament all-stars; Isabelle Morin and Collin Sotomayor, Aroostook County All-Star Classic and Aroostook League Scholar Athletes; Isaac Currier, Aroostook Online Player of the Game; Collin Sotomayor, WAGM Player of the Game; and Isabelle Morin, WAGM Player of the Week.

Alumni Banquet

The Easton Alumni Association invite all alumni to the annual Alumni Banquet on Thursday, June 7, at 6 p.m. in the Easton Elementary cafeteria. The meal will be chicken, potatoes, mixed vegetables and rolls.

Alumni should bring a salad or dessert. Admission is free with annual paid dues. A brief business meeting will follow.

Happy Days Club

The Happy Days Club will Meet May 24 with a potluck lunch. Rick Duncan will speak on the Aroostook House of Comfort. All are invited to attend in the Recreation Room at the Manor at 11:30.

Two Sotomayors graduate

Ian Sotomayor graduated cum laude on May 5 with a degree in healthcare studies from Husson University. This fall he will pursue a master of science in occupational therapy.

Drew Sotomayor graduated on Saturday, May 12, from Northern Maine Community College in electrical construction and maintenance. He also received the Academic Achievement Award and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa.

Sea Dogs

The Easton Recreation Department will host a bus trip to see the Portland Sea Dogs baseball team play on Saturday, May 26. Tickets are $15 and include transportation to Portland. For more information call 488-6601 or email recreation@eastonme.com.
