The undefeated Caribou tennis teams will host Class B North quarterfinal playoff matches Thursday afternoon to highlight sports action in the region.
The top-seeded Viking girls (12-0) entertain eighth-ranked Belfast (7-6) at 2 p.m., while the No. 2 Caribou boys (12-0) will take on No. 7 Brewer (9-4) at the Caribou High School sports complex.
The regular season in baseball and softball wraps up Thursday and only two games are scheduled involving local squads. Greater Houlton Christian Academy (10-3) makes the trip north to take on Ashland (5-7) at 3 p.m. in a make-up game from last week. The Eagles are ranked seventh in Class D North and the Hornets hold the No. 12 position. Both are heading to the postseason, which gets underway Tuesday, June 5, with the preliminary round.
East Grand (4-7) also is scheduled to take on Shead (3-10) in baseball action at 2 p.m. in Danforth. The Vikings have played competitively, but are not in the baseball playoff mix this season.

Tennis
George Stevens Academy 5, Houlton 0 — At Blue Hill, the Shires were eliminated in a Class C North quarterfinal match against George Stevens Academy. The individual results, with Shires listed first, were: in singles, Rebecca Mooers lost to Lindsay Nevin, 1-6, 0-6; Sydney Lorom lost to Julianna Allen, 2-6, 1-6; and Maddie Grant lost to Courtney Blianco, 1-6, 4-6.
In doubles, Grace Johnson and Morgan Graham lost to Chloe Politte/Libby Weed, 0-6, 0-6; and Dina Koretsky and Reagan Perfitt lost to Erica Hypski and Nellie Haldane, 4-6, 3-6.
Baseball
Fort Kent 9, Caribou 2 — The Warriors jumped to a 9-0 lead after three innings and pitchers Josh Soucy and Eden Paradis combined on a five-hitter to finish the regular season 12-4.
The Vikings, which ended up 4-10, scored both of their runs in the fifth inning as Camden Huck had an RBI double and Hayden Hunter an RBI single. Carter Moir also doubled for Caribou. Mason Patten suffered the loss on the mound.
Central Aroostook 15, Ashland 3 — Caleb Harris, Colby Kingsbury and Taylor Campbell combined on a five-hitter and Harris, Campbell and Ben Thomas led the offense with two hits apiece as the Panthers (8-6) won comfortably in Mars Hill.
Alex Kaiser paced the 5-7 Hornets with a pair of singles.
Madawaska 11, Washburn 4; Washburn 9, Madawaska 7 — Colby Hewitt pitched a complete game and struck out six Owl batters along the way as the Beavers picked up a victory for the first time this season, taking the second game of a doubleheader played in Washburn.
Carvor Pendexter and Aidan Churchill led the Beavers with two hits each. Pendexter drove in a pair of runs.
Justin Pelletier had three hits and two RBIs in Madawaska’s opening-game victory. Hewitt tripled for the Beavers.
Washburn closed out the season at 1-12 and the Owls at 3-11.
Houlton 21, Lee Academy 1 — At Houlton under the lights of Bob Ruth Field, the Shires ended their season with an offensive explosion in a game shortened to five innings via the mercy rule. Morgan Phillips went four-for-four at the plate, scoring four runs and driving in two. Ryder Graham and Nick Perfitt each had two hits and three RBIs for Houlton (11-3).
Pat Howe tossed a one-hitter, striking out eight Lee Academy batters. Randy McLeod tallied the lone hit for the Pandas (4-12).
Wisdom 10, East Grand 0 — In St. Agatha, the host-Pioneers (5-7) shut out visiting East Grand. Individual results were not reported.
Woodland 7, Hodgdon 1 — In Baileyville, the Dragons improved to 14-2 on the season with the win over Hodgdon. The Hawks fall to 5-9 on the season. Individual results were not reported.
Softball
Central Aroostook 11, Ashland 5 — The Panthers upset the Hornets in Mars Hill and as a result moved up to No. 8 in the Class D North standings.
Central Aroostook scored eight times in the sixth inning to come out on top. Caitlyn Harris tripled and singled and Mersaydez Johnson doubled for the winners, who improved to 5-9.
For Ashland, which finished 9-5, Amber Chasse had two triples and a double.
Madawaska 21, Washburn 3; Madawaska 17, Washburn 0 — The Owls swept the doubleheader played in Washburn to end up at 7-7 on the regular season while sending the Beavers to a final 1-12 record.
Kassandra Farley hit a three-run homer to account for the Beavers’ offense in the two games. Trinity Saucier-Pellicer added a pair of hits for Washburn in the game one loss.
Jenna Dugal had three hits in game one and Hannah Nadeau four in game two for Madawaska. Riley Lausier pitched a no-hitter in that second game.
Fort Kent 9, Caribou 6 — The Warriors prevailed at home in a competitive game. Playoff-bound Fort Kent finished the regular season with a 9-7 record and Caribou, which missed making the post-season, had a 4-12 mark.
East Grand 10, Wisdom 2 — In St. Agatha, East Grand improved to 11-2 in its final game of the regular season. The Vikings will host a preliminary playoff on Tuesday, June 5.
Woodland 15, Hodgdon 14 — In Baileyville, Belle Moody had five hits, including a triple and a double, and Shawna Monk knocked in the game-winning run with a single in the bottom of the 10th inning as Woodland edged Hodgdon in extra innings.
Jennie Cox had a triple and two singles for the winners, Danielle Poole had three singles and Shaye Beers doubled and singled. Monk had a pair of base hits.
Mackenzie Campbell went the distance to notch the win.
For Hodgdon, Kara Lambert had a double and two singles, Megan Russell doubled and singled, Grace Graham had three singles and Allie Winiship and Janelle Gaff had two singles each.
Houlton 16, Lee Academy 4 — At Houlton, the Shires ended their season with a dominating win over the Lee Academy. Tyra Gentle went 3-for-3 with two doubles and 3 RBIs, Carolyn Mooers had a double and triple. Victoria Forbush, Kristen Graham, Becca Howe, and Elizabeth Phillips all had multiple hits.
Inside the pitching circle, Graham allowed just four hits and picked up the win.
For Lee Academy, Reagan Budge had 2 hits.
