Indoor miniature golf comes to Island Falls

ISLAND FALLS, Maine — Those looking for something fun to do in Island Falls now have a new indoor miniature golf facility to try their hand at sinking a hole-in-one.

Brick Garage Ice Cream and Mini Golf celebrated its grand opening Saturday, May 26, with an open house. Elizabeth Moulton, manager of the business, said the ice cream side of the business opened in 2013 in what was once an automotive repair business and later on became a bottle redemption center.

Peter Conley owns the building, which is located on the Houlton Road. The building also housed the River Cafe until it closed a few months ago.

“This was all just wasted space, so Peter asked me if I thought an indoor mini-golf business would do well,” Moulton said. “I thought it was a wonderful idea.”

Response on the first official day was positive, with many groups of children coming by to check out the new 9-hole miniature golf course set up inside. Face painting also was available for those who wished.

“This is awesome,” one child exclaimed as he entered the building.

Moulton said she did not have much of a chance to watch people playing because the ice cream side of the business also was seeing a steady stream of customers.

“There is nothing for the kids to do in town, so we hope this provides them with something to do, especially on a rainy day,” Moulton said. “We want to be a place where people can come, hang out, make some new friends and enjoy the mini-golf, ice cream, hot dogs or popcorn.”

Brick Garage Ice Cream and Mini Golf is open Mondays through Thursdays, 4-8 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 8 p.m.; and Sundays from 1-8 p.m. For more information, visit the Brick Garage Ice Cream and Mini Golf on Facebook or call 694-3090.
