MARS HILL, Maine — The Central Aroostook Panthers sent 12 batters to the plate during an eight-run rally in the second inning, en route to a 13-0 victory over Wisdom in the Class D North preliminary playoff game Monday.
Central Aroostook, the No. 4 seed, improved to 9-6 and will play either No. 5 Katahdin or No. 12 Ashland in the quarterfinals Thursday in Mars Hill. No. 13 Wisdom ended the season with a 5-8 record.

The Panthers struck early by scoring a run in the bottom of the first on an RBI double by Ben Thomas, and then collected six of their 11 hits during the second-inning uprising.
Taylor Campbell, Caleb Harris, Lane Grass and Thomas all had two hits apiece for Central Aroostook. Starting pitcher Brayden Bradbury went the first four innings and struck out six batters, walking three while giving up only two hits. Harris pitched a scoreless fifth as the game ended due to the mercy rule.
Gavin Martin pitched a complete game for Wisdom. Jake Roy and Kyle Chamberland notched a hit each for the Pioneers.
