FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — With the annual Maine Potato Blossom Festival just six weeks away, organizers are busy planning to celebrate the event’s 71st year and have announced entertainment for all ages.
Local big band Star City Syndicate will headline Friday night, July 20. The group features a lively horn section and high energy performances.
Saturday’s post-parade entertainment includes variety artist Andrew Silver performing his magic, juggling and physical comedy act at 3 p.m. One of Maine’s leading magicians and jugglers, Silver will also lead a juggling workshop at 5:30 for those who want to try it themselves.
At 6:30 pm, Boston comic Tom Hays will take the stage for comedy mixed with improvisational and interactive audience participation. Finally, The Altar Boys from Bangor will close the night with a large variety of music from James Taylor to Jimi Hendrix, from “Devil Went Down to Georgia” to “Hot Rod Lincoln,” with three-part harmonies and guitar solos.
New this year is Singer Songwriter Sunday. On July 22, musicians will perform their original work. The winner of this year’s Northern Star, Jacob Graham, will kick things off at 4 p.m., followed by area favorite Travis Cyr. National touring artists Putnam Smith and Ashley Storrow will continue until the fireworks over the Aroostook River.
This year’s Potato Blossom Festival dates are July 14 through July 22. Visit the festival Facebook page or email mpbf@fortfairfield.org for more details.
