WASHBURN, Maine — The spring sports awards night was held on Thursday, June 14, at Washburn District High School’s Camille “Doc” Albert Gymnasium.
Student/athletes were recognized for their participation and achievements in the sports of volleyball, track and field, baseball and softball. Individual awards were handed out by the coaches and a few students were recognized for participating in the five varsity sports offered (soccer, cross country, basketball, baseball/softball and track and field) during the 2017-18 school year.
Softball (Coach Paul Carter): Rookie of the Year, Trinity Saucier-Pellicer; Coach’s Award, Carly Bragg; and Team Leadership Award, Kassandra Farley.
Baseball (Coach Ben Goodwin): Co-Most Valuable Players: Carvor Pendexter and Patrick Saucier; and Coach’s Award: Noah White.
Boys track and field (Coach Kolbie Churchill): Coach’s Award, Damien Douglas; Rookie of the Year, Steven Nader; and co-Most Valuable Athlete: Patrick Saucier and Konner Jordan.
Girls track and field (Coach Kolbie Churchill): Most Valuable Athlete, Kassandra Farley; Coach’s Award, Bobbie Lee Campbell; and Rookie of the Year, Emma Johnston.
Boys volleyball (Coach Ben Goodwin): Most Valuable Player, Braedon Campbell; Coach’s Award, Aidan Churchill.
Girls volleyball (Coach Debbie Whittier): Most Valuable Player, Carly Bragg; Coach’s Award, Kassandra Farley.
Crystal Hobbs presented special awards to the eight athletes who showed extra commitment to the athletic program by earning five varsity letters during the school year. Those students were Raegyn Chavez, Sydney Chavez, Aidan Churchill, Kassandra Farley, Kyli Farley, Emma Johnston, Konner Jordan and Emerson Turner.
