FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — The 33rd annual “Tiger” Basketball Camp for boys wrapped up Friday, June 23.
The week-long session was held at both the Lawrence Gardner Gymnasium at Fort Fairfield High School and the Fort Fairfield Elementary School gymnasium. Veteran Fort Fairfield varsity basketball coach Larry Gardner directed the camp.
Championship events and a family barbecue capped off the week of camp on June 22. The high school division campers performed a routine and T-shirts and basketballs were presented to each youth. Drawings were held for prizes such as Boston Celtics tickets and University of Maine basketball tickets.
During award presentations on the final day, Austin Delisle of Fort Kent earned the most valuable player nod. He was also the NBA division’s 1-on-1 champion.
The Celtics were the team champions, while Griffen McNeal, Cole Pelletier and Colby Miller captured the 3-on-3 title. Wesley LaPointe was the best foul shooter, Keegan Cyr was named the best defensive player and Xavier McAtee the best rebounder. Carter Pelletier won the hustle award and Alex Oakes captured the skills challenge.
In the college division, Duke was the team champion, Dawson St. Pierre the 1-on-1 champ and St. Pierre, Brett Senal and Lance Ouellette the 3-on-3 winners. Charlie Griffeth was the best foul shooter, while Cayden Ala was named best defensive player and Sam Thibeault the best rebounder. Camden Pelletier claimed the hustle award and Landen Leavitt took the victory in the skills challenge.
For the high school division, the Bears were the team champs. Logan Sherman took the 1-on-1 title and Scott Parady, Joseph Cote, Bradley Laster and Carter St. Pierre were the 3-on-3 winners. Jared Coty captured foul shooting honors, St. Pierre was the best defensive player and Jacob Edgecomb the best rebounder. Lucas Cormier was the hustle award recipient.
Girls’ week began Monday, June 25 and runs through Friday, June 29.
