HELEN G. (MARTELL) NEALEY, HOULTON – Helen G. (Martell) Nealey, 77, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at a local healthcare facility. She was born on March 8, 1941, in Haynesville, the daughter of Joseph “Dick” and Emily “Emme” (Karnes) Martell.
Helen married Robert “Bobby” Nealey on August 15, 1965. Bobby was in the U.S.A.F. and that enabled them to travel the country. They were stationed at Pease AFB in New Hampshire, Edwards AFB in California, and Clark AFB in the Philippines, as well as many others. They eventually settled in Beverly, Mass. Helen worked part-time for various vendors, but her favorite was Hickory Farms during the holidays. Helen was a stay at home Mom and was an advocate for Mike in all aspects of his education and employment. She also had a love for animals, especially her dogs, as well as gardening, and collecting Fenton Glassware.
She is survived by her spouse of almost fifty-three years, Robert; her son, Michael; two sisters, Tessa Marc-Aurele and Ann Miller; four sisters-in-law, Avis Martell, Mary Shurtz, Doris Richardson, and Joyce Gordon; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her in-laws, Ethelyn and Donald Nealey, a sister, Doris Hogan, two brothers, Paul and John Martell, and a sister-in-law, Betty Nealey.

Friends may call from 12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Dunn Funeral Home, where a service will be conducted at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Josh Brewer officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Helen in a special way may make gifts payable in her memory to a charity of one’s choice in c/o Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park St., Houlton, ME 04730.
