ISLAND FALLS, Maine — Great golf is being enjoyed by all at VaJoWa Golf Course. The course is getting many compliments. Coming up on July Fourth is the annual Flag Tournament, where you add your handicap to your gross score and plant your flag where your ball lies. Come and play and see how far you can get.
Twilight League is in full swing. Good scores this week came from Tom Ryan’s 41, Nick Cullen’s 38, Steve Merry’s 38, Phil Desmond’s 47 and Dick Kelly with a 49. Closest to the pin winners were Warren Walker on No. 4 at 18-feet, 4-inches and Nick Cullen on No. 7 at 33-1.
In couples golf Jon Smallwood, Dick Kelley, April Bates and Jarice Kelley were first with 36. Second place went to Deborah Porter, Ralph Powers, and Ted and Terry Pengill with 37 and in a tie for third were Tom Ryan, John Porter, Valerie Powers and Sara Douglas and Betty Smallwood, Greg Gayne, and Candy and Brent Kelly, both with 38s.
Remember that the Slice Restaurant is now open seven days a week starting at 11 a.m. This Wednesday Benny will once again be tickling the keys from about 5:30 to 7 p.m. Come and have a meal and/or your favorite beverage have a good time.
