CARIBOU, Maine — The ninth annual Caribou Viking Summer Wrestling Camp wrapped up June 29 and was called a “big success” by clinician James “Chico” Hernandez, as 25 youth participated, including six from Fort Kent and another from Georgia.
“I was very proud of the wrestlers who took time in the summer to better themselves for the next wrestling season and learn self defense too,” said Hernandez, who is the varsity wrestling coach at Caribou High School.
Hernandez said he was happy with the turnout. He said six girls attended, noting that the popularity of the sport is increasing among females, both nationally and statewide.
