The Central Aroostook Soil & Water Conservation District celebrated their 76th annual meeting on June 16 at the Presque Isle Fish & Game Club.
The event was topped off with a pig roast; bean hole bean supper and the recognition of the 2018 Conservation Farmer of the Year.
This year, CASWCD staff presented the award to Andrew Ketch of Ketch Organics in Woodland.
Ketch operates the 76 acres of his family’s farm, where they grow extensive varieties of organic crops. He has worked with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and National Resources Conservation Service to ensure his farm is not only organic but also follows all possible conservation practices.
The district topped off their evening with a fun-filled auction, with auctioneer Tom Drew entertaining the audience.
