LIMESTONE and CARIBOU, Maine — The Northern Maine Antique Tractor Club will host their 11th annual Memorial Tractor Trek on Sunday, July 15, in the Caribou and Limestone areas.
This year’s trek will start at 8 a.m. in Limestone. Registration is at 7:30 a.m. The trek will continue from Limestone, traveling along back country roads to Caribou, with a lunch break at Burger Boy, then traveling back to Limestone. The estimated distance for the trek is about 38 miles.
Donations will go to both Hospice of Aroostook and Presque Isle’s Aroostook House of Comfort hospice home. Those who donate $25 in memory of a loved one will have their name placed on a memory board, which will be mounted on the body of the antique farm truck leading the trek.
The public may participate with their antique tractors, but must be a member of the NMATC for insurance purposes. Memberships will be accepted the day of the trek. Forms are also available on the club website at www.nmatc.org.
Established in 2008, The Northern Maine Antique Tractor Club is a family-oriented organization with currently over 300 members, focused on the preservation of The County’s rural heritage and restoration of “old tractors,” equipment and related items that were used in the farming industry by past generations.
The club also aims to build awareness of local agricultural heritage to present and future generations in Northern Maine and New Brunswick, Canada.
