GARRETT HAL LINDSAY, LITTLETON – MSgt Garrett Hal Lindsay USMC (ret), of Littleton, 49, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on July 16, 2018, at Eastern Maine Medical Center Bangor. He was born to Gerald and Mapley (Lunn) Lindsay on November 7, 1968, at Lakenheath, England, where his father was serving in the US Air Force.
He was a graduate of Hodgdon High School and University of Maryland University College. Garrett was a proud United States Marine, enlisting in 1992 and retiring with 20 years of service in 2012, he remained close to his Amtracker brothers who know him as “grandpa.” He traveled the world with the Marine Corps, worked as a recruiter, served four years at the Pentagon, and did two combat deployments in Iraq. Following his retirement he worked for two years in defense contracting in Virginia until he and his wife returned home to Aroostook County.
Garrett loved guitar playing, hunting, fishing, four wheeling, and kayaking, and loved just being in the Maine woods that he called his happy place, where he found comfort and peace. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Woodworth) Lindsay, of Littleton, a brother, Jerome Lindsay and his wife, Adele, of Arizona, a sister, Diane Cassidy and her husband, David, of Cary, as well as several nieces and nephews, Peter Hull and Dawn Hensley, Mary and David Moores, Mapley and Joseph White, Maile Lindsay and Kevin Halsey, Lisa Harvey and Brian MacDonald, and Brad Harvey and Sammi Stickney. He is also survived by his wife’s family who loved him and considered him one of their own, and his “emotional support cat”, Baggy. He was predeceased by one brother, James Gordon.
Friends called from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at the Littleton Baptist Church where funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Randall Burns Officiating. Burial with full military honors was held at the Littleton Cemetery, with a reception following at the church.
