MORRIS G. COTE, HOULTON – Morris G. Cote, 84, passed away on July 17th, 2018, in Bangor, ME. “Mo” had a long career as a Master Electrician, including operating the Cote Electric Company in Houlton, ME, for fifteen years. He was born in Caswell, ME, on June 29, 1934, the son of Lenwood and Rena Cote, and graduated from Limestone High School in 1953.
His early career as an electrician was interrupted when he was drafted into the U.S. Army to serve in the Signal Corps. He served at Fort Huachuca in Arizona and then returned to civilian life in Maine. He married Odette Ouellette in 1960 and they raised three boys together, Mark, Michael, and John, settling in Houlton, ME. Mo was active in the local community, serving as a member of the Houlton Fire Department, as well as the Houlton Lodge of Elks, Linneus Snow Sports Club, and American Legion, Post 47. He loved to dance and roller skate and was a fixture at local events for many years.
Morris was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Norma Martin. He is survived by his sons: Mark, and his wife, Karen; Michael, and his wife, Jana; and John, and his wife, Tami. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Rossignol; and his brothers, Dollard, and his wife, Phyllis; and Thomas, and his wife Carol. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews, his ten grandchildren, his eight great-grandchildren, and by his constant companion, Gunner.
Per Mo’s request, there will not be a funeral or formal visitation. Interment at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Caribou will be a private family event.
