The weekly meeting of TOPS was held Friday morning at Aldergate Building, Kelleran Street, Houlton. There were eight TOPS and four KOPS members present.
The loser of the week was Diane Folsom and the runner-up was Barbara Whited. Betty Wyman won the 50/50 and the skinny dish. The healthy basket was won by Barbara Grant.
Diane Folsom announced the winners of our contest: Betty Wyman, KOPS, and Janette Nelson, TOPS. Congratulations, girls.
We also decided to carry the health basket on. It’s fun to see what each member brings for TOPS appropriate goodies.
We held elections this week for our officers: Pam Richardson, leader; Diane Folsom, co-leader; Cheryl Driscoll, secretary; Jean Merritt, assistant secretary; and Janette Nelson, treasurer. Also to serve are Denise Clark, weight recorder; Mildred Gagnon, assistant weight recorder, and Charlotte Marley, web designate.
These members will be sworn in Aug. 3 with a special ceremony. Doesn’t seem like a year has gone by, and a new one starting. Reminds me of a song by the Steve Miller Band, “Times goes slipping into the future.”
To end our program, Janette Nelson read a poem which started” You take my hand and I’ll take yours.” And that is so true. any journey we start is never done on our own. It affects us, but also friends who are guiding and aiding us along the way.
Come join us. We are friends as soon as you introduce yourself. We will help each other on our quest toward better health.
