CARIBOU, Maine — Ten teams were whittled down to four as the Northern Maine Community Recreation Association’s 10-12 year-old baseball tournament’s early round games were played Monday at the Caribou Little League complex.
The teams that stayed alive advance to Thursday’s semifinal games, to be played at 9 a.m. The winners will square off in the championship at 11 a.m.
Madawaska takes on Presque Isle, while Caribou meets up against Mapleton in the next round.
Madawaska advanced by topping Ashland in one quarterfinal. Presque Isle got past Fort Fairfield in a first-round contest before defeating Easton in the quarters.
Caribou earned a bye into the quarterfinals before downing Van Buren. Mapleton outscored Washburn in another quarterfinal.
Van Buren defeated Mars Hill in another first-round matchup.
