LUDLOW, Maine — The Select Board’s inability to field a quorum Monday resulted in Ludlow’s annual town meeting being postponed.
Only two of the five selectmen — chairman Theron Bickford and Joyce Folsom — turned out for the town meeting. Selectmen Jeff Condon, Roxanne Bruce and Laura Geiger were not in attendance.
That low turnout echoed voting that took place earlier in the day as only 10 people cast ballots for one open seat on the town board and school board representative for SAD 70. Bickford was re-elected to the select board with 10 votes, while John Austin was elected to the school board with nine votes.
At $269,028, the municipal budget is up $5,131 over last year’s spending plan. Town Manager Diane Hines said the primary reason for that increase concerns the town’s plan to place additional funds into its summer roads account.
The board will try again at 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6.
