CARIBOU, Maine — Four age division titles were up for grabs Tuesday, July 31, in the Northern Maine Community Recreation Association’s doubles tennis tournament, and host Caribou captured all four.
Twenty players participated in the event, which served as the second tennis competition in Aroostook County in the past week. Presque Isle hosted the singles tourney on July 24.
In the 13-15 girls’ division, Sage Dubay and Edie Shea combined for an 8-3 win over Presque Isle’s Julia Blake and Julia Kurtz. For 11-12 girls, Madelyn Deprey and Emmy McIntyre were too much for the PI pairing of Taylor Bourne and Taylor Walton as they came through with an 8-1 triumph.
Cody Martin and Ruben Hunter edged Caribou’s Gabe Rand and David Rayner in the 13-15 boys’ category by a score of 8-6. The 11-12 boys’ division also was closely contested, with Landyn Waldemarson and Ben Bouchard notching a 9-7 victory over fellow Caribou players Abe Bouchard and Simon Disy.
The tournament was held at the Caribou High School tennis courts.
