The Houlton Chapter of TOPS met Friday, Aug. 10. There were nine TOPS and four KOPS members present.
Diane Folsom was the loser of the week and Brenda Lacostic was the runner-up. The 50/50 was won by Brenda Lacostic. Diane Folsom won the skinny dish and the health basket was won by Barbara Troy.
Charlotte Marley told us no winners yet, so the contest keeps going until one (or more) of us earn the needed beads for our pin.
Barbara Troy led us in exercise. Keep those exercises going, ladies.
Denise Clark gave the program on benefits of watermelon. It contains lycopene, an essential nutrient; 30 percent of Vitamin A for a day and is 90 percent water so a great way to stay hydrated. It helps keep skin from drying out and is easy to digest.
Mix watermelon with lime to get a homemade sherbet. Just make sure you wash the melon before you cut it — a great hint for all your fruits and veggies. Denise also brought in slices of watermelon for all of us.
