LIMESTONE, Maine — Limestone’s Select Board held a lengthy executive session Wednesday, Aug. 22, to go over 31 applications for the position of town manager.
Interim Town Manager Tom Stevens said the entire meeting, which began at 6:30 p.m., lasted until 9:40 p.m.
Stevens said that applications were posted between July 21 and 23, which was well before the Aug. 17 deadline.
He said Aug. 23 that the select board spent the bulk of the meeting reviewing these applications during a private, executive session. During that time, they narrowed down the applications and will soon begin the interview process.
Stevens said that while the board will ultimately vote on the selection for new town manager, they have requested that he be present during the selection process. Interviews will begin in early to mid-September, as Stevens will be on vacation next week.
The next regular selectpeople meeting is planned at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, in the Town Office. Stevens added that the town is back to holding meetings on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, a pattern that was slightly thrown off by August having five Wednesdays.
The rest of the Aug. 22 agenda was fairly short. Stevens said the board also held a discussion, but took no action, on a lot of land in town and sold a couple of parcels of tax-acquired property during the meeting.
