Washburn District High School recently implemented a Community Service Volunteer Program, encouraging students to work at non-profit establishments. Though the program isn’t mandatory, many students know it’s helpful when applying to college or employment. The Washburn Public Library benefited from the outreach when a group of teens arrived the day school ended and worked every day until July 26, helping with the renovation project inside the library. At work are, from left, Madison Miller, Findley Turner, Emerson Turner and Benny Turner. Madison and Emerson are sophomores at WDHS and are well on their way to earning the 100 hours they will need at graduation. The library plans another project over harvest and hopes to see more
