WOODLAND, Maine — Aroostook County Deputy Sheriff Ryan Johnston arrested Michael Cameron Cash, 26, of Woodland on Wednesday following a short struggle at a Brown Road residence.
According to a release sent from acting Aroostook County Sheriff Shawn D. Gillen, Cash was convicted of domestic violence assault and had an arrest warrant for “revocation of probation.”
Cash allegedly told Johnston that he “was not ‘Michael’” and then “attempted to slam the door in” the deputy’s face. He attempted to run out the back door of the house and, when Johnston caught up to him, a “short struggle” ensued.
Cash was arrested and charged with “refusal to submit to arrest or detention” and “assault on a police officer” in addition to the warrant violation.
He was later transported to Aroostook County Jail, where he will reside until he can appear before a judge. The release also indicates that Deputy Johnston “was assisted by a detective from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, the Maine Warden Service and the Maine State Police.”
Neither Johnston nor cash were injured.
