PAULINE ‘POLLY’ E. TAYLOR, HOULTON – Pauline ‘Polly’ E. Taylor, 77, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at her residence. She was born on October 15, 1940, in Porten, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Murchie Stairs and Alice Furrow.
Polly grew up in New Brunswick and attended local schools. She worked at Ivers Inn Restaurant and Karnes Bakery. She enjoyed music, animals, reading, and playing with any toy that moved or made a sound. She loved her family with her whole heart. She had an incredible quirky sense of humor that helped her through many hard times. She was a member of the Golden Belles who played music for the residents of Madigan Estates, and attended Military Street Baptist Church.
Polly is survived by three children, Ken Nason, Gary Nason and his partner, Colleen Flynn, and Billie Jo Taylor and her partner, Megan McCallum; two grandsons, Mike and Ryan Nason; a great-granddaughter, Isabella Nason; as well as two brothers, David Stairs and Richard Furrow, and two sisters, Melba Parkinson and Carol Durling; and her dear friends, Sharon Fitzpatrick and Gene Currie, and her neighborhood family on Washburn Street. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Freeman Taylor, her daughter, Kelly Nason, her son, Kevin Nason, her brother, Roy Furrow, her treasured friend, Mim Nichols, and her first husband, Ken Nason.
Family and friends called at 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Dunn Funeral Home, Houlton, where a memorial service was conducted at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Randall Burns officiating. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers those who wish to remember Polly in a special way may make donations in her memory payable to Cary Library or to the Houlton Humane Society in c/o Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park St., Houlton, ME 04730.
