ST. ALBANS, VT – David Norbeck, son of the late Elmer and Mildred (McNeal) Norbeck, died peacefully at age 80 after a long illness, 4 August, 2018.
David was born 16 Sept., 1937, in Caribou, ME. He graduated from Caribou High School in 1955, graduated from Bowdoin College in 1959, was head librarian and then taught French at Brooks School, North Andover, MA, 1959-60, served in the US Army 1961-64, taught French at Belvidere School, Chelmsford, MA, 1964-65, then taught French at Franklin School in New York City 1966-1972. In 1972, he and his partner James R. Peters, began their phonograph record & book business in Woodstock, NY, moving it to St Albans, VT. In 2000 after Peter D. Ford joined them they became Norbeck, Peters & Ford, still active worldwide. David leaves behind his partner Jim of 54 years, and his primary caregiver Peter D. Ford. A Celebration of Life will be held on 16 September, at his home, 59 Congress Street, St Albans.
