The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center. The special speaker was Jay Green of RH Foster.
He has been with the company for 30 years and spoke of the new $2.1 million facility that is being constructed in Mars Hill. The new building will be over twice the size of the current one, with half of the space dedicated to food under the Freshies name. There will be pizza as well as other food options.
The company has hired a chef to work on new items and concepts for the Freshies locations, and plans to redo and update most of its County stores.
Green was joined by two other R H Foster employees, Tony Moreno and Betty Hatch.
The workforce will double to 12 or so employees. The site will have four fueling pumps for cars and smaller trucks. There will be a diesel pump for smaller vehicles, but the site will not allow tractor trailers.
They are planning on opening by the first week in November, although if the crew gets the building done sooner, they will open a bit earlier.

Upcoming events for the week of Sept. 5-11 include: Wednesday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Residents Council at 9:30 a.m. and Adult Coloring at 1:30 p.m. Thursday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., BYF Outing at 11:00 a.m. and Patio Social at 1:30 p.m. Friday will feature Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Dayroom Cinema at 1:30 p.m. Saturday will feature Bingo with Paula at 1:30 p.m. Sunday will have televised church in the day room. Monday will feature Nails with Shallie and Melissa at 9:30 a.m. and Exercise Time at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Game Time at 1:30 p.m.

The William Cousins Post 118 of Mars Hill will host Bingo at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Post.
