The Caribou soccer teams debuted successfully Saturday, with the boys scoring a 5-1 victory before the girls won by a 3-0 final in matches played at Old Town against the Coyotes.
Cullin Caverhill and Austin Findlen each scored two goals and Alex Ezzy had the other to go along with three assists as the Vikings dominated throughout. Noah Hixon (five saves) picked up the win in goal, surrendering only a breakaway late in the match.
The Caribou girls prevailed in coach Mark Shea’s first game as the team’s coach. Senior Alexis Rodriguez netted all of the team’s goals and Sage Dubay recorded the shutout in goal.
The Viking squads hosted Fort Kent Tuesday and are back to work Saturday as they play a doubleheader at Brewer. The boys’ game is first at 5 p.m., with the girls’ contest scheduled for 7 p.m.
In cross country, Dylan Marrero placed first and Jordan Duplessie third at the Ellsworth Invitational and Abigail Wimmer was third in the girls’ competition. Both Viking squads came in second place to kick off the varsity running season.
Caribou hosts an invitational meet at 1 p.m. this Saturday.
