PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A power outage that affected about 3,000 customers in central Aroostook County Tuesday night was due to a piece of substation equipment that failed, according to Emera Maine.
About 3,000 Emera Maine electric customers from Mars Hill to Caribou lost power Tuesday night around 7 p.m.. Emera Maine spokesperson Judy Long said the outage stemmed from an equipment failure at a Presque Isle substation, which “damaged other nearby equipment.”
Long said the company rerouted circuits and restored power to about 1,300 customers within an hour. The remaining 1,700 customers had power restored at around 11:45 p.m., she said.
