PRESQUE ISLE and MAPLETON, Maine – Darwin Earl Condon, age 84, departed this life on September 9, 2018. He was born and raised in Mapleton, Maine, and lived most of his life in Presque Isle.
Darwin served in the Korean War and worked for many years for the U.S. Postal Service in Presque Isle. He especially enjoyed his monthly coffee meetings with his friend and co-worker Ted Blanchard. Darwin will be greatly missed by all and remembered for his dry wit and very pleasant demeanor.
He leaves behind his loving partner of 59 years, Claire Charette of Presque Isle, and her children, Linda Nelson and Hal of Orrington, Maine, Donna Lockwood and Jim of Colorado, John Charette and Kristie of Gorham, Maine, and Helen Charette Zipkin and Michael of CT. He leaves behind his sisters, Geraldine “Honey” Higgins of Presque Isle and Audrey Graham of Eagle Lake. He also leaves behind his many nieces, nephews, and his many stepgrandchildren.
Darwin was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Elizabeth Nadeau Condon, and his siblings, Mabel White of Boothbay Harbor, Flora Perrault if Presque Isle, Ardis Boyles of Mapleton, Ruth King of Union, Delmar Condon of Presque Isle, Merle Condon of Presque Isle, Lloyd Condon of Mapleton, and Olin Condon of New Hampshire.
