BRUNSWICK, Maine – Raynold B. (Rick) Tompkins died Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick, Me. after a period of declining health. He was born in Presque Isle , Me. on December 24, 1949 to George and Wanetta (Weston) Tompkins.
Rick graduated from Presque Isle High School and during high school and for many more years formed and sang in bands in the Northeast including the band of Levon Helms. Rick’s first love was singing the blues. He also loved his family, friends, his pets and fishing.
He is survived by sisters Janenine Cantrell of Brunswick and Launa (Paul) Greenier of Monmouth, Me. He is also survived by brother Darrell (Dolly) Weston and sister-in-law Carol Stedman, all of Florida and many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Therone Tompkins and brother-in-law George Cantrell.
He showed us all that it’s okay to follow your own path in life, however difficult that path might be. “Whenever there is a tomorrow when we’re not together there is something you must always remember: You are braver that you believe, stronger that you seem and smarter that you think.
