LUDLOW, Maine – Tyler C. Perry, 69, passed away Tuesday September 11, 2018, at Mass General. He was born October 15, 1948, in Easton, the son of Leigh and Viva (Clark) Perry.
Tyler grew up in Easton and graduated from Easton High School with the Class Of 1966. While at Easton, he was a standout basketball player for the Bears scoring over one thousand points and helping the team earn a state championship in 1965. Tyler then graduated from the University Of Maine at Presque Isle in 1970, earning a degree in education. He went onto teach six grade for fifteen years at the Paul Lambert School in Houlton. Tyler’s love of kids allowed him the opportunity to coach youth basketball and little league.
Tyler and his wife Patty opened Tyler’s Market in 1985, and operated it until 1996. Tyler then went back to school and earned his MHRT certificate and went to work for Allies Inc., assisting those individuals with special needs. He retired in 2011, and had a great time golfing, and enjoying the outdoors. He decided to go back to work in 2013, and was employed as a sales agent for Aroostook Monuments in Houlton.
Tyler was an avid golfer and golfed for many years at Houlton Community Golf Course and Mars Hill Country Club where he was a member of the Twilight League with Rod Mahan. Tyler also enjoyed playing cards on Tuesday nights with Dewey DeWitt and crew and Thursday nights with his special friends. He also enjoyed going to camp, four wheeling, bowling, hunting with his son, Tyson and dog, Bridget, fishing, and going to the Allagash with Chris Stewart.
Tyler was a sports enthusiast and always had a TV turned onto a sporting event. Tyler’s greatest past time was spent with his grandchildren. He shared his love of sports with his grandson Marcus. He loved spending time hunting and fishing with his granddaughter, Emily. He shared his love of sports and the “Perry Sweet Tooth” with Bella. He especially loved to have Madison cover him up with pillows on the patio couch and eat saltine crackers with peanut butter.
Tyler will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his ability to bring laughter into any situation. He was a hard worker his whole life with a great deal of integrity and could always be trusted. He was honest to a fault. Tyler was a great listener who would always speak truth to a person.
He is survived by his wife, Patty Perry of Ludlow; three children, Jessica Perry Sinclair and her husband, Tim, of Bangor, Kara Fonseca and her husband, Brian, of Framingham, MA, Brian Crane and his wife, Monica, of Houlton; four grandchildren, Emily Crane, Bella Francis, Marcus and Madison Fonseca. He also leaves behind two brothers, Milton Perry and his wife, Charon, of Lufkin, TX, Blake Perry and his wife, Sherry, of Vassalboro; a sister, Kathy Larsen and her husband, Jeff, of Easton; as well as nieces, nephews, and special in-laws, Tom and Carlie Marquis. In addition to his parents, Tyler was predeceased by a son, Tyson Perry in 1996, and a brother, Ronnie Perry.
Relatives and friends may call 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park St., Houlton. A celebration of life will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, at the Houlton Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to a reception at the Houlton Lodge of Elks following the service at the church. Interment will take place at Estes Park in Easton at a later date.
