ISLAND FALLS, Maine — It was a beautiful weekend for golf. It looks like a good week this week as well so don’t put the clubs away yet. It is a long winter coming!
Results from the Founders Day Red, White and Blue Scramble held over the weekend were: First net, Steve Tarr, Rob Brooks, Garth Townsend Jr. and Garth Townsend Sr., 51.8; second net, Bill Hollis, Rick Robinson, Francis Cyr, and Joey Bishop. 52.4; third net, Nick Cullen, Parker, Steve and Hunter Walker, 52.8; and fourth net, David Nadeau, Ronald Morin, Ray and Stacy Hussey, 53.3.
Low Gross honors went to Phil Desmond, Bill Dwyer, Clay Halliday and Warren Walker with a 59. Pin winners were: No. 4, Bill Hollis, 17-feet, 9 inches; No. 7 Ron Morin 10-0; No. 11 Steve Walker, 13-6; and No. 16 Bill Dwyer, 1-9.
In the Odd Couples Sunday Scramble, winners were Valerie Powers, Don Metzger, Mike Ivey and Brent Kelley with a 37. Finishing second (also with 37), via tiebreaker, were Jon Smallwood, Joy Ivey, Jon and Deb Porter. And in third place with a 38 were Bev Osborn, Peter Blood, Tom Ryan, and Dick Kelley.
Coming up on Sunday, Sept. 30, will be a two-person scramble. The entry fee is $40 per person and will pay out both net and gross cash prizes. Minimum combined handicap of 15 to enter. Sign up your team in the shop to enter. An additional $20 green fee for non-members will be applied.
