Officials with Aroostook Savings and Loan recently awarded scholarships to two dedicated students from The County who are pursuing degrees in higher education.
The scholarships are worth $1,000 per year, up to $4,000 through each recipient’s college career. The winners are Lyndsey Lavoie and Jaydyn Fox.
Lavoie, a 2018 Van Buren graduate, is a freshman at the University of Maine at Orono majoring in child development and family relations. She is the daughter of Adam and Darlene Lavoie.
Fox, a 2018 Fort Fairfield graduate, is a freshman at the University of Maine Presque Isle majoring in early childhood education. She is the daughter of Alton and Jeannie Fox.
“The Aroostook Savings & Loan scholarship program is one way we support our youth throughout the communities in which our members work and live,” said Aroostook Savings President John Swanberg in a press release. “We hope our scholarships will enable these students to achieve their goals and succeed in their future endeavors.”
The scholarship program awards Aroostook County students who have exemplified community service through their volunteer efforts, been successful academically, and have a financial need. Since its inception in 1999, the scholarship program has awarded $153,000 in scholarships to local graduates.
