The Houlton chapter of TOPS met Friday, Aug. 31, at the Aldergate Building, Kelleran Street, Houlton, with eight TOPS and four KOPS members present.
The Loser of the Week was Denise Clark and the runner-up was Pam Richardson. Betty Wyman won the 50/50 and the skinny dish. The health basket was won by Marsha Reed.
We finished the contest this week. It was fun and Charlotte Marley did a great job. The winners were Jean Merritt (KOPS) and Janette Nelson (TOPS).
Diane Folsom did the program on serving amounts; for instance, 32 grapes or a large orange. Use canned or frozen, whole or cut fruit. Fruits and veggies are nature’s “convenience foods.” Just grab and go. Just be sure to rinse these foods well, and to save money use or buy in-season produce.
So let’s set an example for our children and make it a fun experience. Thank you, Diane, for an interesting program.
The group next met on Friday, Sept. 7, with 10 TOPS and four KOPS members present.
The losers of the week were Diane Folsom and Millie Gagnon. The runners-up were Charlotte Marley, Cheryl Driscoll, Janette Nelson and Barbara Troy. Great job, ladies.
The 50/50 was won by Betty Wyman and the skinny dish was won by Janette Nelson. Charlotte Marley won the healthy basket.
Barbara Troy led our exercise session. Thank you, Barbara.
We then went to the activity center at the Houlton Hospital to prepare for the workshop on Sept. 8.
TOPS is a great supportive network, no matter which chapter you belong to. So if you feel you need a lifestyle change, give TOPS a try. We are there for each other. The cost is minimal and the results can be maximal.
