To the editor:
The Fort Fairfield Rotary has been serving the community for 40 years. We have appreciated the support that the community has given us throughout this time, as it has allowed us the opportunity to serve.
Club projects/support include the community pool, Riverside Park Pavilion, community bandstand, Friends Church, Thanksgiving Day seniors/community dinner, Special Olympics Snowdogs, Maine veterans projects, Homeless Shelter of Aroostook, Maine Potato Blossom Festival misses’ float and bike rodeo, and numerous FFMHS programs including 21st Century Program, Athletic Booster Club, Project Graduation, graduating seniors scholarships, the Rotary Spirit Student Award Program, and the FFES students warm winter clothing program to name but a few.
Unfortunately, for a number of reasons club membership has declined recently and we are no longer able to support community projects and needy programs. If membership is not increased, we will no longer be able to continue and will likely dissolve.
The good news is that the club can continue if we are able to induct a number of new members along with their new enthusiasm and ideas.
Therefore those individuals working or living in Fort Fairfield are welcome to our Open House on Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 6:30–8 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Main Street in Fort Fairfield. This will be an informational session where you will hear from current members about who we are, what we do, why we do it, and when and where we meet. Light fare and beverages will be served.
Please attend and invite a friend who also cares about supporting great projects in Fort Fairfield and giving back to our great community.
