CARIBOU, Maine — The Northern Maine Karting Association held its season finale tripleheader for kart racing on Saturday at Spud Speedway. In addition to the feature races, point champions for the summer were recognized.
In the Aroostook Federal Savings and Loan Senior Cage Karts division, the order of finish was the same for all three competitions, with Damian Theriault of Caribou taking first, Janet Bosse of Caribou second and Tom Hale of Westmanland third.
For the Aroostook Trusses Junior Cage Karts division, Bryan Searles of Presque Isle won the first race, followed by Kyle Morton of Eddington and Madison Gillis of Detroit.
In the second, Searles again took the checkered flag, with Madison Gillis the runner-up and Mason Gillis of Detroit third.
Morton was first in the third race, with Searles second and Madison Gillis third.
Participation awards were presented to Kyle Russell of Easton and Kayden Haines of Caribou in the Blacked Out Window Tint Kids Karts races.
The NMKA Driver of the Day Award went to Russell. The 6-year-old did double duty, racing in both the Kids Kart class and Junior Cage Kart class.
The top five points winners for the summer in the Aroostook Trusses Junior Cage Kart category were: first, Searles; second, Morton; third, Madison Gillis; fourth, Mason Gillis; and fifth, Russell.
Searles, a 13-year-old, is now a four-time champion in the division.
The top four in the Aroostook Savings and Loan Senior Cage Karts division were: first, Damian Theriault; second, Hale; third, Bosse; and fourth, Jason Theriault of Caribou.
Damian Theriault, a junior at Caribou High School, has won the senior cage kart class all four years he has competed in this class and has not lost a feature race at Spud Speedway during that span.
