The TOPS chapter in Houlton met Friday, October 5. There were nine TOPS and four KOPS members present.
The loser of the week was Marsha Reed and the runner-up was Barbara Grant. Good job, ladies. The skinny dish was held over. Barbara Grant won the 50/50 and Cheryl Driscoll won the health basket.
We’re in the third week of our contest with different challenges each week. All are participating and doing great.
Barbara Troy led our exercise program. We all look forward to that.
Cheryl Driscoll gave the program on a healthy alternative to pasta. It is called “konjac” and an entire package has only 25 calories. It’s supposed to keep you fuller longer and boost immune systems. It can be used with spaghetti sauce or Alfredo sauce. I’ve never tried it yet but worth a try.
That’s what TOPS is about, a healthier lifestyle and trying different strategies for weight loss. But still, the best tip is moderation.
Come join us for encouragement and new ideas, or just learning “how tos” for your own journey. Learn tips from those that are ahead of us on the road to feeling better about themselves. Hearing “Good job” or “You’ll do better next week” can get us over a hurdle and maybe we don’t hear that encouragement at home.
The answer to the question of which food is boiled before it is baked is: a bagel. How many knew that?
We meet every Friday morning with weigh-in starting at 7:45 and the meeting at 9. For more information call Pam Richardson at 538-8760.
