AROOSTOOK COUNTY, Maine — Aroostook County Crime Stoppers continues to play an active role in bringing criminals to justice, one tip at a time.
A nonprofit organization that began over 30 years ago, Crime Stoppers pays cash awards for information on felony crimes committed in Aroostook County. It has made thousands in payouts since its inception.
Most recently, the organization awarded two different individuals a combined total of $500 in payouts for providing tips that led to arrests.
Crime Stoppers works closely with local and state agencies to reduce criminal activity. The agency distributes tips to the appropriate department, based on the type of crime involved.
Callers who provide information that leads to an arrest or indictment are eligible for an award determined by the Crime Stoppers Board.
