BRUNSWICK, Maine – Wynne Lee Stinson Tidd, 84, passed away September 24, 2018 in Brunswick, ME at her new home at the Mid Coast Senior Health Center, where she had moved in January to be closer to family. She was born at home on April 2, 1934 in Houlton, Maine to Clyde and Mildred (Boutilier) Stinson.
Wynne graduated from Houlton High School in 1952. She married Shirley Tidd the day after her graduation. Wynne was a teacher’s aide and librarian at Hodgdon Elementary school for more than 20 years and a Girl Scout leader for many years. After Shirley retired in 1984, he and Wynne opened and operated the Light House, a lighting store in Houlton. Wynne and Shirley spent almost 30 years living on Nickerson Lake in Linneus, ME, where they enjoyed boating, camping, fishing, snow-sledding, and playing cards and spending time with family. After selling the Light House, they moved to Warren, ME where they enjoyed walking in the woods, ATV riding, dining out with friends, and enjoying the company of their family and neighbors. Always special throughout Wynne’s life were her many pet cats, dogs, and ducks.
In addition to her husband and parents, Wynne Lee was predeceased by her son, Bentley Stinson Tidd. She is survived by her brother, Joel and his wife, Carol of Harpswell, ME, and her brother-in-law, Clifford Tidd and his wife, Penny, of North Carolina. Wynne leaves several nieces, nephews, and their spouses including on the Stinson side, Kurt and Heidi, and on the Tidd side, Don, Dave, Peter, Terrie Lee, Carleton, Barney, Wayne, Carol, and Grady.
At Wynne’s request, no funeral services were held. Memorial donations may be made to an animal shelter of your choice.
