Teen leadership events scheduled in The County

The Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp’s “ATLC: Operation Leadership” program will hold three gatherings of local teens and pre-teens this month, incorporating drug prevention and teen leadership development.

ATLC: Operation Leadership is an afterschool program sponsored by Aroostook Mental Health Services   Inc. that consists of team-building activities and workshops on teen topics. Each free program is two hours long, features a snack and is presented by a team of Aroostook County teens who attended an ATLC summer leadership camp.  

Upcoming sessions are as follows.

Wednesday, Nov. 7, Madawaska Elementary School, 3 to 5 p.m., for students in the Madawaska, Frenchville, St. Agatha and Van Buren areas.  

Tuesday, Nov. 13, Hodgdon Middle High School, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. for students in the Hodgdon and other Southern Aroostook areas.  

Tuesday, Nov. 20, Sargent Family Community Center in Presque Isle,. 1 to 3 p.m. for students in the Presque Isle, Fort Fairfield, Mapleton, and Easton areas.  

Three more programs are planned for March in the Fort Kent, Caribou and Houlton areas.

Registration materials are available at each area’s public school or by contacting Amber Stedt at astedt@amhc.org.  Students must currently be in grades 5-8 and do not have to attend a public school in order to participate.
