PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Several local organizations will serve a Thanksgiving-style dinner, free of charge to all area military veterans, current military personnel and their families, on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Stone Ridge Event Center (formerly Slopes) in Presque Isle.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Hayward-Frazier Post 2599, in cooperation with the Presque Isle Elks, Lodge 1954, Crown Ambulance Service and the Presque Isle Fire Department, will join forces on the dinner for the sixth year.

The menu will include roast turkey, baked country-style ham, mashed potatoes, garden salad, gravy, mixed vegetables, rolls and a variety of pies.

For veterans unable to leave their homes, the Presque Isle Fire Department and Crown Ambulance Service will deliver the meals free of charge.

Elks will provide transportation free of charge for veterans unable to obtain their own ride to this event.  Veterans may obtain transportation by calling the Presque Isle Elks Lodge at 764-0985.

Heath Bartley, together with some friends, will provide musical entertainment during the dinner.

VFW Commander Richard Norton, Elks Exalted Ruler Tai Ireland, Presque Isle Fire Department Chief Darrell White and Crown Ambulance Director Daryl Boucher encourage all area military veterans to receive the appreciation of their community for their military service by attending this annual event.
