SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Richard Frank Strelka, 71, formerly of Caribou, Maine, returned to his Heavenly Father on November 10, 2018. Rick was born to Eugene and Elizabeth (Puzach) Strelka, March 18, 1947 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He served in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam and retired after 20 years from the Army National Guard of Maine. In 1969, he married Nadine (Cyr) Strelka and they raised three boys in Caribou, Maine. He loved U.S. History and had a talent for remembering facts and dates especially about the U.S. presidents. He liked working with people and enjoyed a career in sales and business. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Husson College in Maine. Rick was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also served as the president of the Loring Chapter of the Air Force Association and a board member of the Caribou Public Library.
Rick was predeceased by his parents; and his son, Derek Strelka. He is survived by his wife, Nadine; sons, Mark (Carrie) Strelka and Todd (Shantell) Strelka, along with four grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and three great-stepgrandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Ron Strelka, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Oquirrh Point Stake Center chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6270 West 7000 South, West Jordan, Utah 84081 on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. Interment was on Monday, Nov. 19, at 10 a.m. at Utah Veterans Cemetery, 17111 S Redwood Rd (1700 W), Bluffdale, UT 84065.
Rick is loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
